Common Plumbing problems in Castle Hill
Blocked Drains and Tree Root Damage
Blocked drains are one of the most common plumbing issues we see in Castle Hill. Many homes in the area have established trees, older pipework and large garden areas. Over time, tree roots can enter sewer or stormwater pipes through small cracks, joins or damaged sections.
Common signs of a blocked drain include:
Toilets gurgling
Slow-draining sinks, showers or baths
Bad smells coming from drains
Water backing up through floor wastes
Sewer or stormwater overflows outside
Drains blocking repeatedly after being cleared
If the same drain keeps blocking, it may not be a simple blockage. There may be root intrusion, damaged pipework, a broken sewer junction or a collapsed section underground.
A CCTV drain inspection can help identify the cause and show whether the pipe needs cleaning, repairing or replacing.
Deep trench pipe repair
Precision Pipes excavating to access and repair damaged underground drainage pipework affected by tree roots and blocked drains.
Tree root damage inside drain

Sewer Repairs in Castle Hill
Sewer problems can become serious quickly, especially if sewage starts backing up through the house or overflowing outside.
Precision Pipes helps Castle Hill customers with damaged sewer lines, broken sewer junctions, tree root intrusion, collapsed pipework and recurring sewer blockages.
Depending on the issue, we may need to locate the damaged section, cut and remove concrete or paving, excavate down to the sewer line, replace the damaged pipework with PVC, test the repair, bed the pipe correctly and reinstate the area.
Our goal is to fix the sewer issue properly, not just temporarily clear the blockage.

Stormwater Drainage Issues
Castle Hill properties can also experience stormwater drainage problems, especially during heavy rain.
If stormwater is not draining away correctly, water can pool around the house, run towards doorways, flood low areas, enter subfloors or cause dampness around external walls.
Common stormwater issues include:
Blocked stormwater pipes
Overflowing stormwater pits
Downpipes not connected properly
Water pooling near the house
Damaged or crushed underground stormwater lines
Poor surface drainage around paths, gardens and retaining walls
A properly working stormwater system is important for protecting your home from water damage. If you notice water building up around your property when it rains, it is worth having the drainage inspected before the issue becomes worse.
Leaking Pipes and Water Leaks
Hidden leaks can cause damage if they are not found early. A leaking pipe may be inside a wall, under a floor, underground or around an external water service.
Signs you may have a water leak include:
A higher-than-normal water bill
The water meter moving when no taps are on
Damp walls, ceilings or floors
Mould or musty smells
Water pooling outside
Low water pressure
If you suspect a leak, it is best to have it investigated before it causes further damage to the property.
Hidden leak under sink
Precision Pipes investigated a hidden water leak under a sink, checking the trap, waste pipework and concealed plumbing connections to identify the source of the leak.

Hot Water Problems
Hot water systems usually last around 10 to 15 years, depending on the system, usage and maintenance.
If your hot water system is leaking, rusty, making unusual noises or struggling to keep up, it may be time for a repair or replacement.
Common signs of a failing hot water system include:
No hot water
Water not getting hot enough
Leaking from the hot water unit
Rust around the tank or valves
Poor hot water pressure
Hot water running out quickly
Precision Pipes can inspect your hot water system and let you know whether it can be repaired or whether replacement is the better long-term option.

Plumbing Tips for Castle Hill Homeowners
1. Do not ignore recurring blocked drains
If a drain keeps blocking after being cleared, there is usually a reason. Tree roots, cracked pipework or a broken sewer junction may be causing the problem.
2. Check your hot water system before winter
Older hot water systems often fail when they are under more pressure during colder months. If your system is over 10 years old, leaking or rusty, book an inspection before it breaks down.
3. Keep stormwater pits and drains clear
Leaves, dirt and garden debris can quickly block stormwater pits and drains. Keeping these clear helps reduce the risk of flooding during heavy rain.
4. Watch your water meter
If your water meter moves when all taps and appliances are off, you may have a hidden leak.
5. Be careful what goes down the drain
Avoid flushing wipes, paper towel, sanitary products, grease or food scraps. These can build up in the pipework and cause blockages.

Sewer Dig Up in Castle Hill
Sewer Dig Up in Castle Hill
At this Castle Hill residence, our customer experienced blocked drains and sewage flooding all through their house! As suspected, tree roots had infiltrated the clay pipes, allowing sewage to run freely through the main sewer. During our CCTV inspection, we found that this section of sewer is in very poor condition, with multiple cracks, displaced joints, and significant root intrusion throughout the line. Roots were entering the pipe at numerous locations and causing ongoing obstruction. Due to the condition and location of the pipework, the only practical method of accessing and repairing this section was to remove sections of the stone paving and excavate directly to the sewer line. The job was done within 2 days of first seeing the property, and we had a very happy customer indeed!
