Locating the Blockage with CCTV
Before digging, Precision Pipes used a CCTV drain camera to pinpoint the exact location of the blockage causing water to leak into the client's living room, so we could dig in the right spot the first time.

Excavating Down to the Stormwater Pipe
Once the blockage location was confirmed, we excavated down through the garden bed to expose the stormwater pipe for a closer look.

Cracked Pipe and Tree Root Intrusion
On closer inspection, the old clay stormwater pipe had cracked at a joint, allowing tree roots to grow into the pipe and block it — the real cause of the leak into the living room.

Installing New PVC Pipework
After removing the damaged, root-affected pipe, we installed new PVC stormwater pipe with an inspection point, giving the client a durable, root-resistant repair.

New PVC Pipe Joint and Inspection Point
A closer look at the completed PVC pipework and inspection point, installed to replace the cracked, root-affected clay pipe.

Reinstating the Area
Once the new pipework was tested, we backfilled the excavation and reinstated the area with a concrete patch around the new inspection point, at the customer's request.
